6-WEEK PRIVATE PAINTING MENTORSHIP
Become the Painter You Want to Be
Six weeks of personalized instruction, painting critiques, and guided practice to help you overcome your biggest artistic challenges, strengthen your skills, and become a more independent painter.
Work directly with me to identify what's holding you back and develop a clearer path toward improving your art.
Investment: $1,500 - Limited to 2 Private Students
There's only so much you can learn from watching free demonstrations and tutorials. Sometimes, what you need most is someone experienced to look at your work, recognize what you're missing, and help you understand exactly what to focus on next.
That's what this mentorship is about.
Who Is This For?
This mentorship is for you if:
You have some painting experience but feel stuck or unsure how to improve.
You struggle to identify what's working and what's not in your paintings.
You want personalized instruction instead of another general course.
You're interested in improving composition, color, brushwork, technique, or artistic expression.
You're willing to practice consistently and apply feedback.
This might not be for you if:
You're looking for a self-paced course or passive learning experience.
You're unable to commit time to regular painting practice.
You're looking for shortcuts rather than long-term artistic development.
What's Included
6 Private Video Calls
One 60-minute call each week, focused entirely on your paintings, questions, challenges, and progress.
Personalized Painting Assessment
We'll review your current work, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and establish clear goals for our six weeks together.
Custom Practice Plan
Receive targeted exercises and painting assignments based on what you need to improve, rather than following a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Twice-Weekly Painting Feedback
Submit paintings or studies for individual feedback twice per week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
You'll receive written critiques, annotated images, or short video feedback to help you understand what to work on next.
Your Personal Development Roadmap
At the end of our six weeks, we'll review your progress and create a practical plan for continuing your artistic development independently.
How the Mentorship Works
Week 1: Assess & Plan
We'll review your artwork, discuss your goals, identify your biggest challenges, and create a personalized practice plan so you can get started right away.
Weeks 2–5: Practice & Improve
Through weekly private calls, targeted exercises, and ongoing feedback, we'll work directly on the areas holding your paintings or practice back.
Week 6: Reflect & Move Forward
We'll review your progress, identify what still needs attention, and develop a clear roadmap for your continued growth. You can choose to continue working with me for another 6 weeks or go it alone.
Every artist is different. Your mentorship will be shaped around your individual goals, experience, and artistic challenges.
What Mediums Can I Use?
Watercolor is my primary focus, and it's the medium I currently work with most extensively.
I can provide watercolor demonstrations, technical instruction, and specific guidance on the medium.
Artists working in oil, acrylic, or gouache are also welcome.
I have experience painting with these mediums, and many of the principles we'll explore, including composition, values, color, design, and artistic development, apply across all of them.
However, demonstrations and medium-specific technical instruction will primarily focus on watercolor.
About Your Mentor
I'm Brandon Schaefer, an artist and teacher with over 15 years of experience drawing and painting.
I've spent years painting from life, studying the work of artists I admire, and learning through hundreds of paintings, experiments, and mistakes.
Over time, I've discovered that improving as an artist isn't simply about learning more techniques. It's about learning to see, make better decisions, recognize your weaknesses, and develop your own artistic direction.
My approach emphasizes strong fundamentals, thoughtful practice, experimentation, and enjoying the lifelong process of making art.
My goal is to help you become a more capable, confident, and independent artist.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be an experienced painter?
No, but some painting experience is recommended. This mentorship is especially valuable for artists who understand the basics but want more personalized guidance to improve.
How much time should I dedicate to practicing?
That depends on your goals and availability. We'll develop a realistic practice plan together. The more consistently you practice and apply feedback, the more you'll benefit.
How will I receive feedback?
You'll have two dedicated feedback opportunities per week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Feedback may include written comments, annotated images, or short recorded critiques.
These are scheduled review windows rather than unlimited messaging or real-time assistance.
When does the mentorship begin?
Start dates are flexible and arranged individually based on availability.
What happens after six weeks?
We'll complete a final review and create a personalized plan for your continued development. The mentorship and included feedback conclude after six weeks, with the option to discuss further instruction separately.
Ready to Take Your Painting Further?
You don't need another hundred tutorials or a perfect painting plan.
Sometimes what makes the biggest difference is having someone experienced look at your work, identify what needs attention, and help you move forward.
If you're ready to commit to six weeks of focused practice and personalized guidance, I'd love to hear from you.
