Light on the Giant

This painting shows a giant sequoia at Big Trees State Park and a small figure in the foreground in comparison. This forest is full of huge trees like this one. It almost seems like it’s impossible to have trees this big but this really is the case. It’s an incredible sight to see. I visited this forest in the winter after it had snowed and it really made the entire forest look different. It was just a beautiful symphony of colors and lights and shadows bouncing around. That’s what I attempted to convey here in this painting.
