Walk Among the Giants

This painting depicts a scene of giant sequoias from a forest in northern California called Big Trees State Park. I’ve been here a few times and have done paintings of a lot of the trees here. The trees in this forest are around 2000 years old, at least the larger, older ones. It’s truly a spectacular forest, especially in autumn. There are tons of dogwood trees around which change from yellow to pinkish red and it’s an amazing sight to see. In the spring, you can see their leaves coming back green and also growing beautiful white flowers. In this painting I just wanted to convey the sense of walking amongst these giant trees.
